The engineering company Clayton&Shuttleworth was founded in 1842 by Nathaniel Clayton (1811-1890). In 1845 the company began to manufacture steam engines. Threshers and other machines followed soon after. The exhibit bears the serial number 45269. In 2017 the locomotive underwent an overhaul, cleaning, and pressure tests. Given the age of the boiler, the maximum operating pressure was decreased to 70 PSI. |
